No camera.
No typing.
Just say it.
Traditional food apps make you photograph your plate, scan barcodes, or search a database. That is a lot to ask when you are not feeling well.
SpeakCal takes one spoken sentence. That is it.
Download free on the App Store“Log it later.
Log whatever you managed.
It all counts.”
No photos. No barcodes. No forms. SpeakCal was built for the moments when traditional logging is the last thing you want to do.
No photo required.
No barcode scanning.
No search-and-tap database workflow.
Log after the fact — your choice when.
How it actually works.
Tap once.
Open SpeakCal and tap the mic. That is the only interface element. No navigation to find, no logging flow to start.
Say what you ate.
"Half a banana and some plain crackers." SpeakCal hears the whole sentence and figures out each item.
Done.
Nutrition breakdown appears. Tap save. Set down your phone. Total time: under ten seconds.
Full nutrition, from a sentence.
Even small meals, fully tracked.
SpeakCal extracts calories, protein, carbs, fat, and 26 more micronutrients from whatever you describe — including half-portions and partial meals.
The app does not react.
There are no alerts for low intake, no incomplete-day flags, and no streak tracking. Rough days and off-days just get logged and that is it.
Also relevant: tracking nutrition when appetite is reduced and noting how you feel alongside what you ate.
Questions.
Does logging with voice work when I feel unwell?
Yes. You speak one sentence, set down your phone, and you are done. There is no barcode to scan, no photo to take, no form to complete.
What if I can only manage a few bites?
Log it anyway. "A few crackers" or "half a piece of toast" is a valid log. SpeakCal does not react to small portions or incomplete days.
Will SpeakCal nag me if I skip a meal?
No. There are no streak counters, no daily completion prompts, and no reminders that you missed a log. You log when it helps.
Can I log something I ate hours ago?
Yes. Just say what you had and roughly when. SpeakCal will log it under the time you specify, or under now if you leave the time out.
SpeakCal is a food diary. It is not a medical tool and is not a substitute for clinical nutrition advice.
